My mother and I have been planning this cupcake business for three years in various formats. We finally have the opportunity to move forward with a storefront concept! We’ve leased a place in South Tampa near Westshore on Gandy Blvd. It’s hard to tell sometimes but we’ve come a long way from selling our cupcakes, pies, cookies and even quiches at the Ybor City Saturday Market.
So I looked at the calendar today and I, for lack of a better expression, freaked out! The countdown is on! We’ve got exactly five weeks to get this business up and running. I think I need a paper bag… Who woulda thought VH1′s Famous Food would come in handy to get tips on how to open a food business in 30 days?!
The renovations are at the top of our list right now. So far we’ve lined up an electrician. But we still need a plumber which is most important. They need to do their work before anyone else. We’ve got a couple handymen to do a few minor repairs. Then painting and flooring.
I’m excited although at times my voice sounds like MTV’s Daria or even Ben Stein from the Visine commercials (wowwwww…).
I’ll be posting pics of the inside of the shop tomorrow. You’ll see why I’m about to faint…
